Helping wombats and property owners safely coexist
As part of our work at the Southern Highlands Wildlife Sanctuary, John Creighton and our dedicated volunteer team provide advice and practical assistance to help property owners manage wombat activity while protecting both the wombats and the owner’s property.
This work often involves hours of careful observation, assessment and planning and often mange treatment. It also includes equipment, materials and sometimes multiple visits to a property. Our goal is to find practical, humane solutions that allow wombats to continue living safely in their natural habitat while reducing damage to property.
We estimate the average cost of this work is approximately $750+ in volunteer time, equipment and materials.
In many cases, we provide this assistance at no charge to the property owner because we believe helping people and wombats coexist is an important part of our work.
